Continuing ongoing biannual collaborative meetings, representatives of AEMA, ARRA, and ISSA met on January 18 with representatives from FP2 and FHWA to continue to work on industry efforts to promote pavement preservation and recycling.

During the meeting the associations shared some of their ongoing communication and education efforts including the new PPRA website, ISSA Slurry Systems Workshop, ARRA Semi-Annual Meeting and regional seminars, educational videos and webinars, performance-based specifications, with discussions focusing on potential opportunities for partnership with FHWA in some of these efforts.

The group identified a number of potential topics for the development of FHWA educational webinars and FHWA assisted in identifying other opportunities to help the associations in getting their message out and support the industry.  Jason Dietz, FHWA, highlighted activities of the EDC Pavement Preservation: When and Where program and encouraged submission of industry initiatives to EDC-5.  FHWA also asked for industry assistance in plans to attract younger engineers and technicians through their Education Connection program.

AEMA, ARRA, and ISSA plan to continue meeting biannually with FHWA and other industry representatives to identify opportunities for industry promotion and partnership.
