The 2019 AEMA-ARRA-ISSA Annual Meeting will take place from February 18-21, in Cancun, Mexico.Although it’s still about nine months away, the planning for the Annual Meeting is getting underway in earnest, with your AEMA-ARRA-ISSA staff having recently completed a site visit to the venue to begin planning for all the sessions and activities that will take place.
With some recent worrisome press regarding Cancun, staff members wanted to get experience with the venue and location first-hand to ensure that meeting attendees would have a safe, comfortable, and, most of all, fun experience.
From the moment we stepped off the plane, we found an area vibrant and crowded with tourist activity, with visitors freely walking through the town and enjoying activities in the Zona Hotelera (hotel zone), a beautiful 17 km island located picturesquely between the Nichupte Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea.The Cancun police presence is heightened in this hotel zone to ensure the safety of its many visitors.
Our meeting venue, the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, is near the mid-point of the island. All rooms face the pristine, private white sand beaches and the beautiful, rich turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.As pictured, officers were stationed obviously throughout the beach and pool areas ensuring the security of all hotel patrons. In addition, there was visible staff throughout the resort, ensuring each guest was enjoying their time in paradise.
Annual Meeting attendees will receive the all-inclusiveGrand Experience program, with which guests will receive all meals at the resort restaurants, plus special access to the Grand Club Lounge and the Grand Beach Club, featuring a private beach with luxurious loungers and private meal service.Due to the all-inclusive plan, the Annual Meeting registration fee will be waived in 2019 for all spouse attendees!
The Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach also includes a cascading pool with two swim-up bars, motorized and non-motorized water sports at their marina, a lavish spa, and five restaurants including a AAA Five Diamond restaurant.
The program chairs from AEMA, ARRA, and ISSA are working to secure an excellent program for this meeting and have already adjusted the schedule to allow for attendees to have an educational and informative program, but still enjoy some of the varied recreational activities that this location provides.
One change will be that the program will begin with an opening reception on Monday night, rather than Tuesday.Another change to be prepared for is the debut of a Wednesday night recognition and awards dinner, replacing the traditional recognition breakfast.
It’s time to make sure your passport is current, start practicing your Spanish, and look forward to a great 2019 AEMA-ARRA-ISSA Annual Meeting!
