AEMA Board Holds Winter Board Meeting Virtually

On Monday, February 1, 2021, the Asphalt Emulsions Manufacturers Association (AEMA) held their winter Board Meeting virtually to discuss business and implementation of the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan.

During the Board Meeting, the Board reviewed many committee reports. The Marketing Committee, Chaired by Matt Kennedy, shared they have three action items they would like to work on for 2021. These include being a liaison to help submit nominations for the James B. Sorenson Award, assisting in developing topics and speakers for the PPRA/FHWA Webinar Series, and serving as the liaison to the PPRA Synergy Team.

The AEMA Board appointed a new ITC Chair and Vice Chair. Brian Cancio of Russell Standard will serve as Chair and Shelly Cowley of Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions will serve as Vice Chair.

The Board also nominated and voted the following members to serve as the Executive Board from 2021-2023: President, Bob Huitt of Russell Standard; Vice President, Dan Koeninger of Terry Asphalt Materials; and Secretary/Treasurer Matt Kennedy of McAsphalt Industries.

During the October 2020 Board Meeting, the AEMA Board held a Strategic Planning Session. The Board reviewed results of the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan and established a new Strategic Plan for the next three years. The Strategic Plan from 2021-2023 includes the following Strategies:

              1) Grow the Overall Market for Asphalt Emulsions

              2) Develop Educational Programs and Webinars Anyone can Access at Nominal Costs

              3) Promote Membership Outreach and Participation in AEMA

Each Strategy has sub-goals to help accomplish its objective by 2023. The AEMA Board will discuss the Strategic Plan in detail during their Annual Business Meeting at the 2021 AEMA-ARRA-ISSA Annual Meeting. The Business Meeting will be held in conjunction with the AEMA Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 2:45pm to 4pm CST.

AEMA’s next Board Meeting will be scheduled for June 2021.
