Let’s Get Technical- Industry Meetings Update: April 2024

As we embrace the opportunities and challenges that come with a new year, let’s take a moment to reflect on the valuable experiences and insights gained from the conferences in late 2023 and 2024. These gatherings not only provided us with a platform for networking, but also facilitated the exchange of knowledge and ideas that are vital for our continued growth and success.

Serving as the first event for the closing of the 2023 season, the Southeastern Asphalt User/Producer Group (SEAUPG) held their inaugural conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. At this event, regional updates were shared, and a respective number of presentations underscored the importance of addressing environmental issues and exploring sustainable solutions. Following the SEAUPG conference, the Emulsion Task Force (ETF) held their second and final meeting of 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Notably at this event, environmental stewardship served as the driver behind many discussions and presentations – including industry-specific topics such as recycled materials in emulsions, EDPs, and current events/updates. In February, AEMA-ARRA-ISSA held their Annual Meeting at Innisbrook Resort in Florida (just weeks before the PGA pros hit the Copperhead Course!). There was a variety of topics presented. It is important to note that the Paddle Viscometer vs. Saybolt discussion is still going with several variables worth discussing. AI and other subcommittees are also still hard at work developing National Specifications for Asphalt Emulsions. Building on their 2023 presentation, the Leadership Development Team provided information on where our industry is currently and what might impact or persuade us in the future.
